UGC Creator Guide and Rate Calculator

A UGC creator makes videos and photos that brands post on their own pages and ads. You do not need followers: brands pay for the content. Work out what to charge below, then find the brands that buy UGC.

What is a UGC creator?

UGC stands for user-generated content. A UGC creator is paid by a brand to make short videos and photos that look and feel like a real customer made them: an unboxing, an honest review, a before and after, a day using the product.

The brand posts that content on its own TikTok, Instagram, website or product pages, and very often runs it as a paid ad. That is the difference with an influencer deal: the brand buys the content and the right to use it, not access to your followers.

It is one of the easiest ways to start earning from content, because brands care about whether your videos make people stop scrolling and buy, not about how many people follow you.

Many creators do both: UGC pays from the first video, influencer deals grow with the audience.

How to become a UGC creator, step by step

  1. Pick one or two niches: Skincare, food, pets, apps, home, fitness: choose products you already use and can talk about naturally. Brands hire specialists.
  2. Make 3 to 5 sample videos: Film ads for products you own: a hook in the first two seconds, the problem, the product in use, the result and a clear call to action. 15 to 45 seconds, vertical, good light, clear sound.
  3. Build a one-page portfolio: Your samples, the niches you cover, what you deliver (videos, photos, hooks, raw footage) and how to reach you. A simple page or a shared folder is enough.
  4. Set your rates: Use the calculator above: a base price per video, more for paid ad usage, raw footage and whitelisting, a small discount for packages.
  5. Pitch brands that buy UGC: Most first jobs come from pitching. Find brands in your niche, send a short email with one sample attached and a clear offer, and follow up once after a week.
  6. Put it in writing: Before you film: deliverables, deadlines, revisions, usage rights and payment dates in a short contract.
  7. Deliver, then offer the next one: Deliver on time in the format the brand asked for, and offer a monthly package once the first videos perform.

How much UGC creators charge (how the calculator works)

The calculator starts from a typical price per video for your experience, then adjusts it for usage, extras and package size. Every figure is a range in US dollars.

Base price per video

New: $100 to $200. Some paid work (1 to 5 brands): $200 to $350. Experienced, with a portfolio that shows results: $350 to $600.

Usage rights

Organic posts on the brand's own pages: the base price. Paid ads up to 3 months: +30%. Paid ads up to 12 months: +60%.

Extras

Raw footage: +20%. Whitelisting, where the brand runs ads from your account: +30%. Three extra hooks per video: +15%.

Packages

3 videos: 10% off each. 5 videos: 15% off. 10 videos: 20% off. Prices are rounded to the nearest $5.

Where UGC creator jobs come from

UGC creator jobs rarely look like job ads. The work comes from three places, and the creators who earn steadily use all three.

UGC marketplaces

Brands post a brief and creators apply. Easy to start, but you compete with many creators and the platform usually takes a cut or sets the price.

Pitching brands directly

You choose the brands, set your price and keep the whole fee. It takes more effort per brand, which is the part Outreach AI does for you: it writes each pitch and sends it from your email.

Repeat clients

A brand whose ads performed comes back for more. Offer a monthly package after the first delivery.

FAQ

What does UGC creator mean?

UGC stands for user-generated content. A UGC creator makes videos and photos that look like a real customer made them, and the brand posts them on its own pages and in its ads.

Do UGC creators need followers?

No. Brands pay UGC creators for the content, not for their audience, so the videos are posted from the brand's accounts. A small or private account is fine; your portfolio is what brands look at.

How much do UGC creators make?

First videos usually pay $100 to $200 each, $200 to $350 once a few brands have paid you, and $350 to $600 with a portfolio that shows results. Paid ad usage, raw footage and whitelisting are charged on top.

How do I get UGC jobs with no experience?

Make three to five sample videos with products you already own, put them on a one-page portfolio, then pitch brands that buy UGC in your niche with one sample attached. The Brand Deal Finder lists them.
