How X pays creators in 2026

Original Content Rewards

Since September 8, 2026, X pays through Original Content Rewards, which replaced Creator Revenue Sharing. You need an X Premium, Premium+ or Premium Business subscription, to be 18 or older, 500 verified followers and 500,000 Home Timeline impressions from verified users in the last 90 days, with replies excluded.

What gets paid

Payouts are based on qualified impressions: unique views of your original posts by Premium users in the Home Timeline, with at least half the post on screen. X publishes no rate per impression.

Payouts

Every two weeks, with a $30 minimum outside the US. US creators are paid through X Money with no minimum.

Creator Subscriptions

Followers pay a monthly fee for subscriber-only posts. X says creators receive up to about 97% of that revenue, after payment processing and app store fees.

Sponsored posts

A brand pays a flat fee for a post, a thread or a pinned post, agreed with the creator and paid directly.

How this calculator estimates X income

The $0.50 to $4 rate is this calculator's assumption, not a figure from X. Because X only pays for impressions from Premium users, enter those rather than your total impressions, and plan on the low end.

  1. Content payouts: Monthly impressions from Premium users ÷ 1,000 × $0.50 to $4, multiplied by an engagement factor that runs from 0.6 at 0% engagement to 2 at 15% or more.
  2. One sponsored post: Followers × $8 per 1,000, scaled by follower tier (0.05 under 5,000, 0.4 under 50,000, 1.5 under 250,000, 4.5 under 1 million, 12 above) and by engagement (0.7 plus a tenth of your engagement rate). The top of the range is 2.4 times the bottom.
  3. A monthly brand retainer: From 1.5 times the low post price to 2.5 times the high one.
  4. The monthly total: Low: content payouts plus one post at the low price. High: content payouts, one post and a retainer at the high price.

What this calculator assumes for Twitter / X

Income streamHow it is estimatedRate used
Content payouts (Original Content Rewards)Monthly impressions from Premium users, weighted by your engagement rate (0.6x to 2x)$0.50 to $4 per 1,000 impressions
Sponsored postYour follower tier, adjusted for engagement rateThe top of the range is 2.4x the bottom
Brand deal (monthly retainer)Built on the sponsored-post rate1.5x the low post rate to 2.5x the high one
Engagement rateCapped at 15% for the estimateA higher rate raises both the content payouts and the post price

These are this calculator's working assumptions, not rates published by X. X pays only for unique impressions from Premium users and changes its rules over time, so treat the result as a starting range.

Worked example: 50,000 followers, 2.5% engagement

With 200,000 monthly impressions from Premium users, the engagement factor is 0.83, so content payouts come to $83 to $667.

One sponsored post: 50,000 followers is the 1.5 tier, and 2.5% engagement gives 0.95, so 50,000 × $8 per 1,000 × 1.5 × 0.95 = $570, up to $1,368. A retainer runs $855 to $3,420.

Monthly total: $653 to $5,455. Most of the range comes from brands, not from X's payouts.

FAQ

How does X pay creators now?

Through Original Content Rewards, which replaced Creator Revenue Sharing on September 8, 2026. X pays Premium subscribers with 500 verified followers and 500,000 verified Home Timeline impressions in 90 days, based on unique impressions from Premium users, and publishes no rate per impression.

How much do sponsored posts on X pay?

There is no public rate card. This calculator starts from $8 per 1,000 followers, scaled by follower tier and engagement, and gives a range whose top is 2.4 times the bottom: $570 to $1,368 for a 50,000-follower account with 2.5% engagement.

Is my data private?

Yes. The calculator runs in your browser, and the numbers you enter are not sent anywhere unless you choose to save them to your account.

How do I earn more on X?

Post original content that Premium users see and engage with, since that is what Original Content Rewards pays for, keep your engagement rate up, and sell sponsored posts and retainers directly to brands in your niche.

Do I need X Premium to earn from X?

For Original Content Rewards, yes: X pays only Premium, Premium+ and Premium Business subscribers who meet its thresholds, 500 verified followers and 500,000 verified impressions in 90 days. Sponsored posts agreed directly with brands do not depend on that program.

How much should I charge for a sponsored post on X?

Start from your followers and engagement rate, which is what this calculator does, then adjust for your niche: finance, B2B and tech audiences buy higher-ticket products, so their posts can price above lifestyle accounts of the same size. Quote a range, and price a thread or a pinned post above a single post.
